440showroom is located in Ichibancho, Chiyoda-ku. Since the Meiji era, many writers and artists have lived in this Bancho area. Many cultural figures whose names appear in textbooks, such as composers Rentaro Taki and Kosaku Yamada, and novelists Saneatsu Mushanokoji and Toson Shimazaki, seem to have lived in Bancho. Bancho is also known as the birthplace of Japanese culture and art.
This time, the client who commissioned us to create a bespoke piece is a composer with many representative works. We received a full order for a ring and a pendant top that could be worn as a set, as a gift for his wife. The client selected the loose stone himself, choosing a blue topaz with excellent color.
First, the blue topaz used in the ring selected by the client has a distinctive cut. The crown, which is the surface of the gemstone, is a smooth, rounded cabochon cut, while the pavilion, the underside of the gemstone, has multiple facets. This special cut allows it to emit a gentle and deep sparkle.
For the design, we set the blue topaz in a generous amount of gold, creating a ring that, while simple, offers a luxurious feel.

Next, for the pendant top, we used a cushion-cut blue topaz, characterized by its deep brilliance and delicate sparkle, owing to the multifaceted cut of its crown (the surface of the gemstone).
The highly vibrant and large blue topaz is sufficiently complete as a loose stone. Therefore, similar to the ring, we set it in a generous amount of gold, balancing elegance with wearability. We inquired about the thickness of the client's existing chain in advance and fitted it with a detachable bail to allow for chain changes.
We are delighted to be able to serve everyone through 440's jewelry in this historic town cherished by cultural figures.
Thank you very much for entrusting us with your order.
