Hello, I'm Kanae Omori, the designer.
My blog had been on hiatus for a while, but I'd like to gradually resume it. Now that the 440 collection Spring Summer 2025 "Modern Époque" new product announcement and pre-sale event has successfully concluded, I can finally take a breath.
What I want to share with everyone today is a reform story about earrings that were reborn from two diamond necklaces.
A cherished piece of jewelry, a gift from my older sister in my youth
The client brought in:
・A simple single-diamond necklace
・A three-stone diamond necklace with three stones in a row

The client told me:
"This necklace was a gift from my older sister when I was young. It holds a lot of memories for me.
But as I've gotten older, I've started to feel like it lacks a bit of presence...
I wanted to keep it, even if it meant changing its form, so I came to you for a consultation."
Her request was for a reform into a bracelet or earrings that she could wear every day.
She didn't seem to have a specific design in mind yet.
This was because both necklaces had sturdy gold settings, making it difficult to gauge the size of the stones.
"How big are these diamonds?"
She asked, so we measured the diameter of the stones and gave her an estimated carat weight, and then began to brainstorm designs together on the spot.
The decision was made: three-stone earrings that gently adorn the earlobes
While a bracelet would also be lovely,
considering her lifestyle and how often she would wear it, she decided that "earrings would probably get more use." So, the item was decided to be earrings.
However, she only had four diamonds.
Splitting them into two pairs felt a bit lonely, so she asked,
"Can I have three-stone earrings for each ear, so it reminds me of the original three-stone necklace?"
Of course, it's possible.
In addition to the four stones she entrusted us with, we prepared two more diamonds of the same quality from our store, for a total of six stones.
The beauty of lines and gentle curves
Arranging them in a straight vertical line, like the original three-stone necklace, was one option, but I felt it might create a somewhat stiff impression, so I proposed several rough sketches.
The client chose a design with a gentle curved line that follows the curve of the earlobe.
Since there was a slight variation in stone sizes, they were arranged in a gradient.
A small amount of metal was left at the bottom stone to add a sense of movement.
It's a simple yet distinctive design.

Initially anxious, but smiling in the end
When she first came for a consultation, she was with a friend.
I felt she seemed a little anxious, wondering "Will it really turn out to be something that suits me?"
However, as we discussed her feelings about the jewelry and her usual style,
she said, "So it can change like this." I remember her expression gradually softening.
And upon delivery,
"They're so cute!"
She said, with a wonderful smile.
A gift from my sister returns to my daily life
A message I received later included these words:
"Since they became earrings, I wear them much more often.
My sister was also very happy about the reform."
Memories of receiving the necklace,
the joy of being able to wear it again,
and the connection with someone important.
I believe all of these reside gently within these earrings.
I am truly happy that I could help make that happen.
