"I don't need to use all the stones. Just two simple ones for each ear."
Those words told me everything.
Do you have any jewelry that has been sleeping in the back of your drawer?
You're not really troubled, but it's been on your mind for years.
The item brought in this time was a gorgeous ring generously adorned with sapphires. It was a beautiful piece of jewelry, but a bit too extravagant for her current self – a piece that had been put away for a long time.
"I want to turn this into earrings."

There were many stones. When I asked if she wanted to use all of them, she replied,
"No, I prefer simplicity. I'd like dangling earrings with two stones for each ear."
I really liked that answer.
She knew that if it was too flashy, she wouldn't wear it again. So, she opted for a minimalist approach. If she was going to have it remade, she wanted something she could truly incorporate into her daily life.
It was an answer she arrived at after truly considering her jewelry.
As we refined the design together, when deciding on the length of the dangle, we actually held it up to her face to confirm.
A length that moved naturally from beneath the earlobe. Not too long, not too short. A unique measurement just for her.
Instead of simply connecting two oval stones, we decided to arrange them vertically, with an oval on top and a more teardrop-shaped stone below, connected by a delicate chain. The material was platinum, which offers a subdued elegance within its luster. This was a choice that quietly, yet surely, accentuated the deep blue sapphires.

When I placed the finished earrings in the jewelry box, I felt this:
While retaining the brilliance of its ring form, the aura it exuded had changed. From a statement piece with star power to a quiet beauty that harmonized with everyday life.
The same stones, transformed in this way. That's what I believe is the most fascinating aspect of remodeling.

Actually, this customer requested another remodel at the same time.
A ring with red stones and some dormant loose stones were to be made into a bangle.
We'll share that story in the next blog post.
