The client who had her sapphire ring refashioned into earrings, as introduced in the previous blog post, actually brought in another item that day.
A ring with a red stone and several small loose stones.
"I want to transform these into something I can use."
"I want a design that won't snag."
From those words, the story of this bangle's transformation began.
She brought in a large red stone ring and several small loose stones. All of them had apparently been sitting unused.
Eliminating snagging is determined by how the stone is set.
Prong settings inevitably catch on things. Clothes sleeves, the inside of a bag—it becomes a minor annoyance in various situations. This accumulation of small irritations leads to the jewelry eventually being taken off.
So, we decided on a bezel setting, where the stone is completely encased. The surface is smooth. The stone is well protected and won't snag.
We proposed K18 white gold as the material.
Since she had expressed a desire for a "platinum color," we chose white gold. Visually, it has a white luster not much different from platinum. However, a bangle is worn daily. For everyday use, K18 is stronger and can maintain its beautiful condition longer. If it's to be worn daily, we wanted to make it with a durable material. That was the reason for our suggestion.
A large stone was placed prominently in the center. Small loose stones were rhythmically scattered along the arm.
The bangle was designed as an open type. It's easy to put on and take off and fits smoothly along the wrist.
The size was custom-measured for her wrist, resulting in a perfect fit. Even those who found off-the-shelf bangles "a bit too big" or "too tight" can get a perfect fit with a custom order.

It became a bangle that is simple yet clearly luxurious upon closer inspection.
I believe that "not snagging," while seemingly a small detail, is crucial in determining whether jewelry is worn daily.
Having it on your wrist without stress—that alone makes jewelry a part of everyday life.
