This blog post is about how we remodeled a large citrine ring into a design that “blends seamlessly with the finger.”
It's a remodeling story where a customer who was worried that "it's too big for me as it is" smiled and said,
"It's strange, even though the stone hasn't changed size, it really suits me!"
Now, let me introduce you to the remodeling process.
Seeking a "ring that blends with the finger"
The customer who came for a consultation had a striking, dignified beauty.
She is a truly wonderful person, exuding gentle elegance within her strength.
Carefully taken out of her jewelry pouch was a large citrine ring with a mysterious depth, as if bubbles were floating within it.
I was captivated by its soft, mellow glow, but the customer looked a little troubled and said, "It just doesn't suit my finger as it is."
Indeed, the original ring had a classical design with the stone set vertically.
The stone protruded quite a bit, and it might have been a bit too large for the petite customer.
Keeping the round stone as is
When I asked, "Would you like to add diamonds?"
The customer immediately replied, "No, I just want to enjoy the stone simply."
At that moment, the direction was set.
Keep the presence of the citrine, but make it blend naturally with the finger.
We decided to reduce the visual bulk by deliberately setting the vertically oriented stone horizontally and embedding it as deeply as possible into the ring's body.
Though the size remains the same, the impression when worn becomes much lighter.
Into a design that seamlessly melts into the finger
The ring's body features a single band that splits into two, gently embracing the stone.
We aimed for a form that conveys both gentle embrace and strong support.
While keeping the side profile sleek, we ensured that the beautiful, deep side profile characteristic of citrine could be fully enjoyed.
We aimed for a calm presence that perfectly suits our petite, elegant, and dignified customer.

A new look brings a smile to the customer's face
The moment she put the finished ring on her finger,
she exclaimed with great joy, "Wow... it fits so well!"
I also secretly gave a little fist pump.
While sometimes a bold, drastic change is appropriate, as in this case, a little ingenuity can bring out a new expression. Ultimately, it depends on the customer's feelings towards their jewelry.
It was a moment that reminded me of the profound depth of remodeling.
May this citrine ring gently accompany the customer's daily life and spend many moments with her.
