Hello.
This is Designer Omori.
How are you all spending your Obon holidays?
Today, I'd like to share a reform story about a ruby ring that's as hot as the summer heat.
The client who requested this reform is a trusted customer with whom I've collaborated on many reforms before.
"I've enjoyed the previous designs to the fullest. This time, I want a complete change of impression—a modern and elegant ring that wraps around the finger."
This reform began with such a request.
Giving new life to a classic ruby
The client brought in a classic, vertically-set ruby ring and the remaining stones from previously reformed jewelry.
Among them, the main ruby was particularly striking.
Its deep, vibrant yet translucent red brought brilliance the moment it was placed on the finger; it was a truly beautiful stone.

The theme: "Modern" × "Elegant"
and a bold design that "wraps around"
The customer's request was for a design that "wraps around the finger."
They also brought reference photos, but simply setting stones on a plain metal base felt a bit underwhelming.
Because the customer effortlessly wears flamboyant jewelry,
I wanted to propose something truly special that you wouldn't typically encounter.
With that in mind, we held several meetings while preparing various designs.
A winding design where playfulness and elegance coexist
The finished ring has a unique silhouette that, at first glance, looks like three rings stacked together.

Round diamonds on the bottom tier
Tapered baguette diamonds arranged in a zigzag pattern in the center
And on the top tier, the main ruby is set, encircled by diamonds.
The ruby, which was vertically set in the original ring, is now deliberately angled to "flow."
The sense of rhythm created by the continuous lines draws the eye.
We added a playful touch to the ruby's intensity, resulting in a modern and light finish.

Security even in unseen places
Designs that wrap around the finger tend to have complex structures.
To ensure strength, this ring was made with K18 white gold (which is stronger than platinum of the same color),
and two supporting pillars were hidden inside the ring for reinforcement.
This design achieves both beauty and practicality, even though it's not visible when worn.

"I'm glad I asked you again this time."
On the day of delivery, the client came wearing the blue stone and pearl necklace that I had reformed for her previously.
The moment she put on the finished ring, her face lit up with a smile.
She gave me a warm word, saying, "I'm glad I asked you again this time."
Every time I see her since, I've noticed her wearing this ring,
and each time, I can't help but smile inwardly. Hehe.

One of a kind. A new story depicted by a winding ruby.
In this reform, the ruby's power combined with the customer's sensibility,
resulting in an elegant, playful, and modern ring.
Even with a simple phrase like "wrapping design," the range of expression is infinite.
Jewelry isn't just beautiful; it becomes special when it embodies the wearer's unique personality.
I would be delighted to continue exploring these possibilities with you.
Thank you so much for the wonderful request.
Please look forward to the next blog post.
