When I was making the Symphoricarpos brooch, I actually had two other items that I was entrusted with.
Cufflinks and a tie tack with cabochon-cut red stones, which belonged to the same customer's father. The smooth luster of the stones softly contained light.

"I want to keep the smooth feel of the stones as they are and turn them into jewelry I can wear myself."
It was a simple, clear request. Cufflinks into earrings, and a tie tack into a brooch.
First, the earrings. The cufflink fittings were carefully removed, and earring posts were re-set. The round frame of the cufflinks was kept as is.
The deep red stone is gently framed by a silver setting. The same face that adorned her father now graces his daughter's ears.

For the tie tack, she initially hesitated, considering turning it into a ring.
Later, a message arrived via LINE. "Can you make it into a brooch like this?" accompanied by an image. Of course, we can.
The finished piece was a brooch that retained the design of the tie tack, with a gently extending silver curve. A single red stone rests at the end of a soft arc. That's all. It's like a grass stem, or a shooting star. The negative space quietly speaks volumes.

Both the earrings and the brooch were designed to be worn casually and effortlessly.
Rather than ostentation, a presence that gently accompanies. Her father's jewelry is now seamlessly integrated into her daily life.
That red, once in a drawer, will now shimmer in the light.
