An opal obi-dome that our client's beloved aunt always wore with her kimonos. We received a reform request from a client who said she rarely wears kimonos. She deliberated for a long time over "what design to choose and who to entrust it to" because it was a precious item she inherited, and in the end, she entrusted 440 with the reform into a ring.

The obi-dome was set with two rectangular opals with slightly different thickness and play-of-color. We decided to use the opal with its characteristic plump thickness for the ring this time. For the design, the client liked the Water Lip collection from 440, so we created a ring with the rectangular opal placed horizontally and surrounded by 440's melee diamonds. The contrast between the mysterious opal, which exhibits various play-of-color such as yellow, orange, and yellowish-green, and the melee diamonds, which are characterized by their delicate sparkle, created a sophisticated impression.

The client also brought in a diamond bracelet that she no longer used, and we created an eternity-style ear cuff using 7 of the diamonds.

The client was very satisfied with the finished ring and ear cuff, and we returned the other opal that was set in the obi-dome. She left the store with an excited expression, contemplating making a matching necklace or a platinum ring with the other opal next time. These jewels were passed down from her aunt to her mother, and then to her. We are deeply honored that you entrusted us with tailoring these precious jewels so that you can wear them. Thank you.
